How to tie a scarf and ways to wear with ease
The scarf
There are many different fashions that come and go (remember the paper dress?). Most of these fleeting fashions are fads that emerge on runways for a season or two for fashionistas looking for something new. There are some things that seem to linger generation after generation. One of these fashion items is the scarf.
The scarf as a fashion accesory
The scarf first appeared in Rome. "A linen kerchief known as a sudarium (Latin term for “sweat cloth”) was used by the Romans to wipe their necks and faces. The ancient Romans developed the scarf into a diverse men's fashion accessory, whether knotted to a belt or worn around the neck. Of course this style was quickly adopted by women also, and the scarf has since become synonymous with women’s fashion," according to content corral.
How to wear a scarf
From the lowly piece of cloth used to wipe a brow, the scarf has become one of the most chic fashion accessories. This year, scarves have been a hot item in stores everywhere. Many people even wore scarves during the summer. The way to wear a scarf is as varied as the proper length of skirts.
There is the classic tie reminiscent of menswear and the keyhole scarf that is great for longer styles.

Scarf as a fashion statement
The scarf can make a rather basic outfit go from ho hum to wow with a quick twist and flip. Imagine wearing a black pair of jeans with a black tank, and tweed jacket. This statement is fashionable and somewhat conservative. Now throw on a bright orange scarf and all of the sudden your look pops. You can change in an instant. You can also add a head scarf as a chic statement that is so Jackie-O on days when really, what you are trying to do is hide a bad hair day!
Scarves can be playful or sophisticated. This can be accomplished by not only how you tie a scarf, but what material the scarf is made of. A silk scarf is not the same as a wool scarf. A gauze scarf is very different than a knit scarf.
Colors matter too. Tie dye scarves are fun. Black scarves are dressy. Brown scarves are earthy. Pink scarves can be girly while light blue scarves can also be very feminine. Purple scarves are dressy when they are deep plum colors. Light violet scarves are flirty when worn with a spring dress.
